Communication Skills Interpersonal Problem -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Communication Skills Interpersonal Problem? Answer: Introducation Communication is the most vital medium through which humans communicate. It involves the process of sending and receiving information between two or more persons. Humans communicate not only through face-to-face communication but also through internet and phone (Shockley and Zalabak 2014). Communication is extremely important for humans to survive because we are social creatures and we cannot live as recluse. To live and prosper in a society communicating with the people around us is crucia (Gallois and Giles 2015). It helps in the spreads of knowledge and leads to formation of relationships between various people. Improving communication skills is one of the most primary goals of every person (Erozkan 2013). Many people feel very conscious when it comes to communication. To overcome that fear the person needs to give it efforts to interact and expose himself or herself. Being an introvert I faced several problems in communication with others. Few years back one particular incident affected me very strongly. I had an argument with my classmate in my school and because she had a very loud and aggressive personality, she gathered everyones attention as well as sympathies towards her. However, because I was quiet and had extremely poor communication skill I could not put up my views clearly in front of the others. Many people misunderstood me for my incapability to clear the issue in front of them. Due to my poor communication skill and tongue-tied state, I could not talk to everyone and clear the situation. That incident had shaken me to the core and I realized how weak and helpless I was only because of my poor communication skill. Had I been smart enough to communicate with them properly things could have been different. This incident had left a deep impact on me and it was then that I realized that I had to work on my communication skills. I realized it gradually that to progress in life I have to improve my communication skills. Not being able to talk to people, not being able to express my feelings these were the problems that affected me largely. I started looking up how I get over this problem. I became determined to improve these flaws in me. It was then that I heard about personality development classes that are held at various places especially for people like me who suffers from various problems like me. Getting enrolled into that class was one of the best decisions of my life. There we were taught a variety of personality development skills like public speaking, communication skills, body language improvement and many more (Adler, Rodman and DuPr 2016). Gradually within few months, I could notice the difference. My hesitation, my reluctance to speak reduced. My consciousness in front of others started going down. Now I could speak to people in a better more confident way. Most importantly, I could express what is in my mind in a more systematic way rather than feebly mumbling about them. I started gathering courage to interact more with the people around me. I could now make friends with ease. I could slowly interact with strangers comfortably and start getting to know them. I started getting comfortable in unknown circle of faces, which I could never think of in my previous years. This boost in my communication skill was a direct result of an improvement in my self-confidence level. This improvement in my personality affected my academics positively too. My grades improved and I now felt much more positive and confident about myself. Lack of self-confidence and low self-image is the biggest cause for poor communication skills. Children who do not get enough opportunity to expose themselves in proper environment and involve in creative activities generally grow up to have poor communication skill (Scott and Phillips 2014). Their lack of self-confidence acts as a barrier in the process of effectively communicating and interacting with the people around them. Communication is the core of and human relationship and society (Trenholm 2017). It is only after two unknown people start communicating, that they learn to identify and know each other. This is true in every aspect of life. Improving communication skills is of vital importance for a successful professional and personal life. Communication helps not just to impart information but to communicate feelings and thus develop relationships which is of utmost importance for human society. In the modern day society, communication skills are important in every sphere of life. Reference Adler, R., Rodman, G.R. and DuPr, A., 2016.Understanding human communication. Oxford University Press.
